One Hour Workshops
Google Classroom, Edmodo, Moodle and Regular Web Pages - Presenter: Warren McCullough
Now that access to the Internet is ubiquitous in our day to day lives, the need for the normalisation of ICT in classroom activities is greater than ever. A key starting point for teachers seeking to embrace new technologies is a relevant online presence for their class. In this workshop we will discuss the role of tools such as Google Classroom, Moodle, Edmodo and Weebly in providing an online gateway to your classroom, with a hands-on opportunity for you to setup a new class in Google Classroom.
Creating Digital Portfolios & Personalizing Online Homework - Presenters: Gee Hounsell, Janelle Morgan and Rachel Dunne
This workshop will look at creating personalised digital portfolios using Google Drive and Seesaw (app). Such portfolios encourage students to reflect on their own learning and to set realistic achievable goals. They also map growth and progress and provide transparency for reporting requirements.
Participants will see how these tools can be used across different platforms and differentiated for individual student use. Participants will also learn how to use Edmodo to personalise homework.
Half Hour Workshops
Collaborative Programming using Google Docs - Presenters: Nerida Bourke, Clare Dunn & Cathy West
Google Docs has been used to collaboratively program across 3 Kindergarten classes. The program includes timetables, parent notes (where applicable) and links to DEC curriculum and syllabus documents.
Although the example provided by the presenters is a Kindergarten program, the process could be transferred to any teaching program.
Teaching for the Times - Personalising, Differentiating and Engaging Students - Presenter: Mark Rutter
An exploration of ideas and practices that still have currency for practitioners (and those that don't); and the identification, consideration and development of teaching skills in a digital classroom.
Making Life Easier for the Teacher - Presenter: Sam Clarke
This workshop looks at a small selection of apps and Google Docs that help with school and staff management and organisation. Digital technology is used to help save time and find shortcuts, especially when collecting evidence for accreditation and writing 'Personal Development Plans'.
Your School Website - What Does It Really Say About Your School? - Presenter: Isabelle Cameron
Your school’s website is usually the first point of contact with your school community and the world. It should be informative, current and should reflect your school’s vision. Participants will gain an understanding of the ongoing journey towards creating a dynamic, user-friendly and informative school website.
